Absolutely excellent; exactly as portrayed online. Could not have asked for more. Staff was very helpful and would definitely come again. Thanks for everything.

We have just got back from the best holiday EVER, staying at 311 - a stunning three-bed apartment at Sapphire Beach Condominiums, just 50 meters from the beautiful Caribbean Sea. We booked through the efficient and helpful Blue Sky Luxury who describe this place on their website as 'beachfront bliss'. Got it in one!
We are three couples in our 60s, good friends for many years and we all appreciate the fine things of life. 311 did not disappoint.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: You rarely hear "Oh wow" or "Fabulous" from seasoned travelers as they walk through the door for the first time, particularly after a 9-hour flight from London Gatwick - but those were the sounds that came out. The owners have obviously invested in a great interiors specialist as the decor, fittings and furniture in the spacious lounge are pitch perfect. Classy, understated, chic - and comfortable.
PRIVATE TERRACE: ...and then we walked out out onto the private terrace which overlooks two swimming pools, the garden area and secure gated walls - with Dover Beach and the Caribbean on the other side. The crashing of the surf and the sunshine were a delight to these six weary travelers and both surf and sun stayed with us throughout our 8 days.
ACCOMMODATION: 311 has three good-sized bedrooms, two of them en suite, all with walk-in changing rooms and comfy beds. Nick and Janet, who were celebrating their wedding anniversary, mysteriously got allocated the huge master bedroom which overlooks the beach and sea. "Did you find the continuous crashing of the surf disturbed you in the night?" we asked the next morning and were answered with wide grins. All three bedrooms are private from one another although with six people who are all comfortable with walking around somewhat deshabillé that did not seem to matter much. Wi-Fi access is available throughout the apartment. The large lounge has an integral modern kitchen fitted with oven, microwave, American fridge, toaster - oh, just name it, it's got it. To the side is a laundry room with a combined washing machine and tumble drier.
POSITION: This is where 311 really scores. It is more or less central between both swimming pools and two security gates that look on to the beach (you are given a code for access) but more importantly it is directly opposite a beautiful big tree on the far side of the swimming pools. During the day, our eyes were popping out of our heads at the fantastic jet black humming bird - no larger than a dragon fly - hoovering up the insects around the branches of the tree, its wings a blur. 311 is at the centre of the bat run, too - at dusk, every evening for just an hour, we were treated to the spectacular flying feats of these lovely creatures as they flitted just meters from the terrace, changing direction in a millisecond to scoop up supper. Finally, as the spectacular Caribbean dusk dissolved into night, fireflies were dancing in that tree - leaning on that terrace rail, Irish whiskey in hand, enclosed by the velvety Bajan night, tiny lanterns illuminating the pool area and even tinier lanterns flickering between the darkened boughs of our friendly tree I thought I had died and gone to heaven.
STILL ON POSITION: Outside the door, after a chat with Michele, surely the cutest security guard in the Caribbean, you have a choice of easily accessible destinations. Need some groceries? Dover Market, a typical Bajan supermarket is less than five minutes walk to your right - it's not Tescos or Wal-Mart but who needs that? Here you can buy fruit, vegetables, all the basic needs for the home and kitchen - oh, and ice in bags and good bottled beer. To the left, the pleasures of the St Lawrence Gap (your local district) await. The road runs parallel to the beach with funky, low-priced beach bars offering Bajan delicacies such as flying fish sandwiches and catch of the day specials, just two minutes walk. It's a 10-minute walk to Sharkeys on the other side of the road (breakfast there is an absolute must) and further up wonderful, classy restaurants all serving top-class food. You can eat in a different restaurant every evening, each with the nighttime surf crashing in just yards away. My personal favourite is Aspara which offers both Indian and Thai cuisine to a standard you will not see bettered in London, Paris or New York.
SERVICE: 311 benefits from a friendly and efficient domestic staff who call in every few days to change the sheets, clean the apartment and do the laundry (if you want them to).
WOULD YOU RECOMMEND 311 TO YOUR FRIENDS/COLLEAGUES? Are you kidding?!?! Those who read my reviews know that I have no problem in criticising hotels/staff/service etc where it is warranted. I've tried really hard but the only thing I can think of is that occasionally, with six of us in the apartment, the ice maker ran out of ice. So one of us had to walk down to Dover Market to pick up a bag of ice. It's such a nice walk we used to fight for the privilege of fetching the ice.
There are probably better places to stay in the world than 311 but I can't think of any. If you want to holiday in paradise in an apartment where you can feel the cares of the world slipping away from you then save your nickels and pennies and head for Sapphire Beach.

This has been a comfortable and pleasant stay. It will be hard to stay anywhere else, however I doubt I will now. I will also try other Blue Sky Luxury properties.

I was once tole that it is the people that make a place wonderful not visa versa and that is 150% true. Leamington Pavilion is no doubt a paradise within itself that when you add its A1 staff and their wonderful personalities, it is quite the jewel!

Not sure where to begin to describe the beyond wonderful experience our group of 20 had this week. To a person, this was the most beautiful setting we have stayed in and the staff was exceptional. We will go away with memories of fun times.

My family and I have just had the immense pleasure of staying at the luxurious Barbados villa Sugar Hill - Illusion for a week. The physical setting is spectacular and beyond beautiful. Any trepidation I had over not being “on the sea” was quickly quashed when I had my first view of the Caribbean Sea from our balcony. The pool at Illusion is not only very inviting but also safe for both children and adults.
What sets Illusion apart from any other Barbados villa is the wonderful staff. Grantley is always ready to fill any and all requests. Heather is Chef extraordinaire. Traveling with three small children and six adults, she always prepared the perfect meals for everyone. The rooms where always kept in tip-top shape can clean laundry appeared every day. The grounds were kept in perfect shape. We will definitely return for many more special family holidays.
Thank you Grantley and your great staff for helping to make our stay at Illusion relaxing and fun.
