Surfing in Barbados

If you are a surfer, surf enthusiast or you just generally love outdoor events then you should visit Barbados for the PEG Independence Surf Festival for the ultimate Barbados getaway! All paths lead to the iconic “mushroom rock” at Soup Bowl, Bathsheba where the action will take place from November 6th – 11th 2018. If you’ve never visited, then put aside any thoughts that you may have about the rugged beauty of the east coast. Unlike the polished west and south coasts of Barbados, a visit to Soup Bowl is like no other.  Known mainly for surfing, a drive down to the east coast evokes the feeling of being lost in a rugged paradise.

Need a place to stay or looking for a great recommendation for a Barbados vacation rental? Check out our website for a best-in-class selection of beachfront or inland luxury villa rentals. Get inspired by the excitement of surfing and contact our Concierge team at Blue Sky Luxury to book your surfing lessons. Have fun and get the entire family involved! Some of our favourite schools are Barry’s Surf School, Zed’s Surfing Adventures, Boosy’s Surf School and Burkie’s Surf School.

Below is one of our best reviews for Burkie’s Surf School!

“As soon as we arrived (at Burkie’s Surf School) we received a very warm welcome from Alan and the team and were put at ease. After a brief run through on land we headed out expecting to spend the day being thrown off the boards (out of six of us only one had tried surfing before). Jason and Jacob were incredibly patient with us, giving us individual tips on where we were going wrong. The buzz when you feel the power under the board is amazing and we were astounded when we actually managed to stand up. After the first go you are instantly hooked and can’t wait to get out again. Personally, this was the best experience I had in Barbados and I can’t recommend it enough. A huge thanks to Alan, Jason and Jacob and if we’re ever back in Barbados again we’ll be booking it up straight away.”
